What can I expect at my first physiotherapy visit?
On your initial visit, your physiotherapist will take a detailed history of the present complaint, and then perform a full musculoskeletal examination.  Based on your assessment, a clinical diagnosis will be established and discussed with you.  Your goals for treatment will also be discussed at this time, and then a treatment plan will be created based on the condition.  This may include manual therapy, exercises and modalities such as acupuncture, heat and ice.

How long will my session last?

The assessment will last 90 minutes, during which time you will have a full assessment to determine the extent of your condition or injury.  A treatment program will be discussed with you and implemented.  Each subsequent treatment session will last 60 minutes, during which time your exercise program will be reviewed and updated, and you will receive the necessary physiotherapy treatment for your condition or injury.

What should I bring to my assessment?

Please bring all doctors’ referrals and any test results you may have, such as X-rays, MRIs, bone scans or CT scans.

What should I wear to my sessions?

You should bring loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment, depending on the area that needs to be treated.  For example, if you are having your leg treated, you will need shorts.
